About the Role
Northern Sun Electric is seeking an experienced Electrical Foreman to lead field crews on utility-scale solar installations across New York State. You'll be the on-site leader responsible for safe, code-compliant, on-schedule execution— installation of DC/AC wiring, combiner boxes, inverters, and final interconnection.
What You'll Do
- Lead and coordinate a crew of electricians and installers on solar PV projects
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and project specs
- Oversee installation of conduit, conductors, inverters, combiner boxes, disconnects, and metering equipment
- Ensure all work meets NEC and AHJ/utility interconnection requirements
- Run daily safety briefings and enforce OSHA and company safety standards
- Manage materials, tools, and crew productivity to keep projects on schedule and budget
- Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, and utility representatives
- Train and mentor apprentices and junior crew members
Qualifications
- 5 years of commercial/industrial electrical experience, with 2 years in a foreman or lead role
- Solar PV installation experience strongly preferred
- NYS Journeyman or Master Electrician license (or equivalent verifiable experience)
- Strong knowledge of NEC and solar-specific code requirements
- OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with utility-scale or ground-mount systems
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
