What are the responsibilities and job description for the CNC Swiss Setup Operator position at Northern Precision Products?
Summary:
The CNC Swiss Setup Operator will have a variety of daily responsibilities including setting up jobs on the CNC machines, repairing down machines, trouble shoot problems, train new people for the CNC area, programming part coordinates, gaging parts, operating machines, and keeping the area clean. When operating a machine, the CNC Setup person will be responsible for routine maintenance on the machines and must also be able to follow specific instructions and work in a safety-oriented manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Setup jobs on the machine
- Writing and editing of programs for part coordinates
- Assist with repairing machines
- Check parts off machine to ensure they comply with print specifications
- Make dimensional offsets to CNC computer to ensure dimensional compliance
- Operate and maintain equipment
- Move material by hand or assisted with equipment when needed
- Clean work area
- Perform various maintenance activities
- Work with office and supporting departments
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of setup experience on Citizen Swiss Machines
- Must understand the formulas and calculations of speeds and feeds
- Able to do mathematics: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division
- Able to read non digital micrometers and blue prints
- Able to lift 50 pounds or more
- Detail oriented in order to ensure parts meet print specifications
- Cooperative and a team player with good communication skills
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to:
- Sit, stand and walk on oily surfaces
- Moving material routinely
Lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
