ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Hours: 7:30AM - 4:00PM
Lunch Breaks: Staggered 30-minutes lunch break between 11:00AM and 1:00PM, coordination by the team to minimize disruption to truck loading.
Scheduling Needs: Scheduling needs are subject to change based on department requirements. Supervisors will communicate any necessary adjustments in advance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Safely load/unload trucks, verify and complete all paperwork to ensure 100% load accuracy.
- Reconfigure loads as needed to ensure safe transport.
- Communicate multi-drops or special load requirements to drivers.
- Report damaged product promptly and tag for regrind or QA review.
- Identify and re-band bales as needed to ensure safety and prevent product damage.
- Promptly advise Customer Account Representatives or the Traffic Manager on any potential QA issues or delays with shipments.
- Follow safe loading procedures and advise drivers on any safety or loading and strapping policy.
- Perform snow removal for yards, parking and sidewalk areas.
- Maintain yard cleanliness and pipe organization.
- Maintain excellent customer service and driver relations.
- Clean and maintain equipment, conduct and document daily forklift inspections.
- Operate forklifts safely and handle products responsibly to prevent injuries.
- Identify and suggest improvements to the supervisor.
- Complete Yard Placement Sheets on weekends or Holidays. (Main Yard only)
- Extended hours or mandatory overtime may be required during peak business periods or for snow removal.
- Yard Operators holding the ND Environmental Class A/B certification may certify other Yard personnel to Class C status.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent, relevant experience.
Certifications:
- Valid Driver's License (required for operating yard trucks and other vehicles)
- Forklift certification - may be issued by NPP
- ND Environmental Certificate Class A or B may be required. Class C is required. (issued by NPP)
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of material handling and yard operations.
- Understanding of safety procedures and proper use of equipment.
- Ability to follow and issue clear instructions.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail in documentation, product positioning and safety compliance.
- Physical stamina to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Problem-solving skills to address yard operation issues and perform physical tasks as needed.
