Northern Michigan Sports Medicine Center is looking for a team member to fill a vacant position in the billing department.
Job responsibilities
The Billing Assistant tasks include:
Ø Edits patient registrations
Ø Coordinate insurance verifications with outsourcing company
Ø Primary receptionist for billing department
Ø Assists patients with questions about their coverage and statements
Ø Posts electronic payments from payors
Ø Corrects claims and follows up on claims which pay incorrectly
Ø Generates claims and transmits to payors
Ø Miscellaneous other clerical duties
In addition, the Billing Assistant will assist with other tasks in the billing department so that full coverage can be maintained at all times.
Education and Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Prefer a candidate with some prior experience working in healthcare billing setting. Applicants should have a working knowledge of healthcare insurance coverage and are familiar with insurance and billing policies and procedures. Detail oriented and knowledge of how to navigate insurance portals is required as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills.
