What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drill Superintendent position at Northern Lights Locating and Inspection?
As a Drilling Superintendent, you will play a significant part in the success of JDH by directly managing the execution of all drilling field operations (multiple sites where needed). We rely on superintendents to set the highest expectations for their crew(s) for safety, quality, schedule, cost performance, and team development. You will bring your hands-on attitude to work on some of JDH's most significant and unique projects daily. Excellent communication skills and working well in a team environment are critical to this position. A key requirement is to monitor and help control the attitude of men. Know when our workforce is upset or unhappy. Intervene and help restore a good working attitude for JDH. Another key is to keep certain information close to your belt to ensure a good working environment. Help keep up with and oversee the maintenance of all the drilling rigs.
Must have at least 5 years of experience in Foundation vertical drilling. Horizontal drilling, geo drilling, or gas pipe drilling are not the experiences we need for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Form and lead an effective discipline team, delegating responsibilities and setting goals
- Assist in the hiring, training, and development of craft personnel (drillers, foremen, laborers)
- Develop and maintain open communication with crews, field engineers/coordinators, Safety, Quality, and clients.
- Assist in preparing work plans and scheduling to determine manpower levels, material quantities, and equipment requirements.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and troubleshoot problems, correct inaccuracies, and implement cost-saving measures.
- Monitor and adhere to established budgetary guidelines for the job and ensure that cost control measures are followed.
- Monitor job safety and provide training and awareness for all personnel.
- Monitor quality standards and ensure that technical specifications are being met.
- Assist with developing entire job schedules.
- Advise senior-level staff on potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc., and assist in resolving issues as required.
