JOB TITLE: Fiber Aerial Lineman
STATUS: Full-Time Employee
RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE: Experience required.
JOB SUMMARY: The Fiber Aerial Lineman is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of aerial fiber optic cable systems for both new and existing projects. This role requires proficiency in working at heights, operating bucket trucks, and performing tasks that ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of aerial construction work. The position also requires availability to provide 24x7 emergency response support as needed.
TYPICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install and repair fiber optic cable in a variety of environments.
- Perform aerial tasks including new cable installs, pole transfers, strand building, cable hanging, lashing, make-readies, and figure-eighting.
- Climb utility poles up to 50 feet and operate bucket trucks safely.
- Record and document testing in accordance with customer specifications.
- Maintain a professional working attitude with co-workers, supervisors, and customers.
- Continue to expand knowledge of aerial construction practices and industry standards.
- Uphold quality workmanship and safety standards on all assigned projects.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites.
- Possession of personal climbing gear and ability to safely perform climbing tasks.
- Willingness to travel for up to 4 weeks at a time and work non-standard hours, including long shifts, weekends, and emergency coverage.
- Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable to changing conditions.
- Team-oriented with strong work ethic and integrity.
- Safety-focused with consistent adherence to all company and industry safety standards.
Qualifications
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documents.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in fiber optic construction, maintenance, and testing (preferred).
- Mechanically inclined and detail-oriented.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to obtain a DOT physical certification.
- CDL Class A certification preferred but not required.
