Environmental Services-Laundry Perdiem

Job Summary:

The EVS/Laundry Per Diem will be required to work in the Environmental Services and Laundry departments as needed.  The EVS/Laundry Per Diem will be responsible for the specific tasks and duties assigned to them while in each department.   Duties will include, but are not limited to maintaining the cleanliness of the hospital when assigned to Environmental Services; maintaining a sufficient supply of hygienically clean linen when assigned to Laundry.

Job Relationships:

1. Directly responsible to the Environmental Services Manager.
2. Works closely with and will take direction from Environmental Services Manager and Assistant Manager. 
3. Works closely with hospital district leadership and departments as well as internal and external customers. 

Occupational Hazards:

Works in the general hospital setting. May be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissues as well as patients in varying stages of infectious states.

• Provides a clean, safe environment for patients, staff, self and visitors.
• Responds promptly to requests for assistance for special cleaning needs.
• Utilizes work time appropriately, completes all assigned tasks in a timely manner.
• Works well independently; consistently meets performance standards without need of close supervision.
• Assist other laundry employees with collecting, cleaning, drying, folding and delivering of linen.
• Learn how to safely operate all the various laundry machinery.  
• Assist other laundry employees in maintaining a clean and safe working environment on a daily basis.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

• The Mission, Vision, and Values of Northern Inyo Healthcare District; 
• NIHD policies and procedures, including Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and Confidentiality standards;
• Must be able to understand, read and write English clearly

Skills/Abilities to:

• Basic Computer Skills including the ability to use Microsoft Outlook.
• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with NIHD staff and the public;
• Establish and maintain professional working relationships with NIHD staff at all levels as well as the public;
• Develop and maintain a high degree of maturity, integrity, and good judgement.
• Lifting or carrying (up to 50 lbs.)
• Communication, Oral and Written - Ability to communicate effectively with others using the spoken word and to communicate in writing clearly and concisely
