Northern Fab of Menominee LLC is seeking a skilled and motivated Fabricator/Welder to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will fabricate, fit, assemble, and weld metal components according to engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company quality standards. This position requires attention to detail, strong fabrication skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, work orders, and specifications.
- Lay out, fit, and fabricate structural and non-structural metal components.
- Perform MIG, TIG, Flux-Core, and Stick welding as required by project specifications.
- Assemble weldments using measuring devices, fixtures, and jigs.
- Operate fabrication equipment, including:
- Band saws
- Ironworkers
- Press brakes
- Drill presses
- Grinders
- Hand and power tools
- Verify dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments.
- Perform visual inspection of welds and fabricated assemblies.
- Maintain compliance with AWS welding standards and company quality requirements.
- Complete required production and quality documentation.
- Assist with material handling using forklifts and overhead cranes when authorized.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area utilizing good housekeeping practices.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing efforts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of fabrication and welding experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Proficient in the use of measuring and inspection equipment.
- Ability to perform accurate layout and fit-up of components.
- Strong understanding of welding processes and shop fabrication practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS welding certifications.
- Experience with structural steel, aluminum, and stainless steel fabrication.
- Experience working in a custom fabrication environment.
- Forklift and overhead crane experience.
- Familiarity with AWS D1.1 and AWS D1.2 welding codes.
- Experience with CNC plasma tables and fabrication equipment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and greater weights with assistance.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, climb, and reach throughout the workday.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to welding fumes, noise, heat, and moving equipment.
- Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, welding helmet, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe footwear.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and fabrication shop environment.
- Exposure to welding operations, grinding, cutting, and material handling activities.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required to meet customer schedules.
