Northern Door Children’s Center is looking for a caring, energetic, and dependable Early Childhood Teacher to join our team working with children approximately 2½ to 3 years old.

About the Position

Our toddler/young preschool classroom provides a nurturing, play-based environment where children can learn, explore, build relationships, and develop confidence and independence.

The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys getting down on the floor and playing, singing, reading, creating, exploring, and learning alongside young children. You will help children develop important social, emotional, physical, language, and early learning skills while providing a safe and loving classroom environment.

Responsibilities

· Provide warm, responsive, and nurturing care for children ages approximately 2½–3 years old

· Plan and participate in age-appropriate activities that encourage learning through play

· Support children as they develop independence, communication, self-help, and social skills

· Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom environment

· Follow classroom routines, schedules, and center policies

· Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, handwashing, rest time, and other daily care needs

· Observe and respond to each child’s individual needs and interests

· Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers

· Communicate regularly and professionally with families and teaching team members

· Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom

· Work as part of a collaborative teaching team

We’re Looking For Someone Who

· Loves working with young children and genuinely enjoys the toddler years

· Is patient, dependable, positive, and compassionate

· Understands the importance of relationships and responsive caregiving

· Is comfortable with the active and sometimes messy nature of working with toddlers

· Can communicate effectively with children, families, and coworkers

· Is willing to learn and grow as an early childhood professional

· Has previous early childhood experience or education (preferred, but we are willing to train the right person)

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.
