Northern Door Children’s Center is looking for a caring, nurturing, and dependable Early Childhood Teacher to join our team working with infants from approximately 6 weeks to 1 year old.

About the Position

Our infant classroom provides a warm, responsive, and nurturing environment where babies can develop strong relationships with their teachers while growing and exploring at their own pace.

As an Infant Teacher, you will play an important role in creating a safe and loving environment that supports each child’s individual development. You will build trusting relationships with infants and their families while providing responsive care and engaging experiences throughout the day.

We believe that every interaction with a baby is an opportunity for learning. From talking, singing, and reading to tummy time, sensory exploration, music, movement, and everyday routines, our teachers help infants build the foundation for future learning and development.

Key Responsibilities

· Provide warm, responsive, and nurturing care for infants ages approximately 6 weeks to 1 year

· Build strong, trusting relationships with each child and their family

· Follow individual feeding, sleeping, diapering, and care routines

· Provide developmentally appropriate activities and experiences that encourage exploration and learning

· Support infants’ physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development

· Engage children through talking, singing, reading, music, movement, sensory activities, and play

· Provide opportunities for tummy time, large motor development, and age-appropriate exploration

· Observe each child’s development, interests, and individual needs

· Communicate regularly with families about their child’s day, development, milestones, and experiences

· Maintain accurate daily records and classroom documentation

· Create a calm, safe, clean, and welcoming classroom environment

· Follow safe sleep practices and all health and safety procedures

· Assist with diapering, feeding, cleaning, and other daily care routines

· Work collaboratively with fellow teachers and center leadership

· Follow all center policies and applicable licensing requirements

We’re Looking For Someone Who

· Truly enjoys working with infants and young children

· Is nurturing, patient, dependable, and compassionate

· Understands the importance of responsive caregiving and strong relationships

· Is comfortable caring for young infants and meeting their individual needs

· Enjoys talking, singing, reading, playing, and interacting with babies throughout the day

· Can communicate effectively and professionally with families and coworkers

· Is comfortable with the active, hands-on nature of infant care

· Is willing to learn and grow as an early childhood professional

· Has previous infant or early childhood experience or education (preferred, but we are willing to train the right person)

Compensation & Benefits

Pay: $18.00–$23.00 per hour, depending on education and experience.
