Role Summary
The facilities maintenance technician is responsible for the upkeep of the facility. The position will entail preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of equipment within the facility.
This is a full-time non-exempt position that is eligible for overtime after 40 hours in a workweek and has no supervisory responsibility.
Role Responsibilities
The person filling this position will spend approximately 60% working in and around the facility and 40% in the laboratory. There will be exposure to animal pathogens and chemicals. There will be handling of and/or exposure to, animal tissue and zoonotic organisms. Ability to don and wear personal protective gear, including N95 masks and respirators. Physical activity includes lifting (up to 50lbs), carrying (up to 40lbs for up to 50 feet), pushing/pulling (up to 75lbs force), reaching, gripping/pinching, standing, and ascending ladders without restriction. Ability to travel between sites Ability to work beyond typical work schedule including but not limited to evenings, weekends, and extended shifts with short notice.

Role Responsibilities
- Evaluate equipment breakdown and conduct basic mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
- Order and maintain spare and replacement parts for the facility equipment as needed.
- Visually inspect and test mechanical equipment to detect malfunction.
- Assist with the identification of potential safety hazards within the building and coordinate the remediation of such hazards with the Safety Committee to ensure the building’s staff and occupants work in a safe environment.
- Understand and ensure compliance with all regulatory laws and guidelines as they relate to the operation of the building’s infrastructure. Alert Facilities Site Lead or Site Head of any building discrepancies.
- Record data for completeness and ensure SOPs are followed.
- Maintains a wide variety of industrial equipment, machines, and assemblies to include assisting with periodic preventive maintenance.
- Assist in duties related to preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate degree with 1 year or HS/GED with 2 years of building maintenance experience.
- Position requires a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work outdoors, including in inclement weather, when needed.
- Basic understanding of electronic controls and control systems
- Must have established mechanical, troubleshooting, and teamwork skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office core applications and the ability to learn and se additional applications.
