Duties
- Provide direct support to individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other disabilities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation to promote independence.
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual’s needs, utilizing positive reinforcement techniques.
- Collect and document data related to behavioral progress, health status, medication administration, and daily routines accurately.
- Support communication efforts using methods like American Sign Language or other augmentative communication tools when necessary.
- Facilitate community outings, transportation, and driving responsibilities to promote social integration and access to resources.
- Collaborate with families, social workers, educators, and healthcare providers to develop personalized care plans that meet each individual’s unique needs.
Requirements
- Experience working with individuals with autism, developmental disabilities, or neurodevelopmental disorders in a caregiving or support role.
- Knowledge of special education principles and behavior management techniques.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language or willingness to learn is preferred.
- Background in behavioral health or social work is advantageous.
- Ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate caregiving in home or community environments.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record for transportation duties.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with individuals, families, and team members.
- Experience in data collection, medication administration, and documentation practices related to healthcare support.
