We are seeking an Experienced Orthopaedic Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our busy and growing practice. This role offers the opportunity to provide care across all orthopaedic specialties while working alongside a highly respected team of physicians and advanced practice providers.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Orthopaedic Physician Assistant will evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries and conditions across multiple orthopaedic subspecialties. The ideal candidate is an experienced orthopaedic provider who is comfortable independently managing patients in an orthopaedic walk-in clinic, treating both acute and chronic conditions, and collaborating with physicians to provide comprehensive orthopaedic care.
This position is not limited to a single orthopaedic specialty and is ideal for a clinician seeking variety in practice, including walk-in care, acute injury management, and treatment across multiple orthopaedic subspecialties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients presenting with orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
• Provide care across all orthopaedic specialties, including sports medicine, joint replacement, trauma, hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, spine, and general orthopaedics.
• Independently staff and manage patients within NHOC's Orthopaedic Walk-In Clinic.
• Evaluate and manage acute injuries, fractures, sprains, strains, sports-related injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
• Order, interpret, and review diagnostic imaging and laboratory studies.
• Develop and implement treatment plans, including medication management, rehabilitation recommendations, bracing, splinting, casting, and referrals when appropriate.
• Perform procedures within scope of practice, including injections, aspirations, fracture care, casting, splinting, and other musculoskeletal interventions.
• Collaborate closely with orthopaedic surgeons and fellow advanced practice providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, recovery expectations, and preventative care.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record.
• Participate in a shared provider call rotation and assist with after-hours orthopaedic patient coverage.
• Support practice operations through flexible scheduling, including occasional evening clinic hours.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
• Current NCCPA certification.
• Current New Hampshire Physician Assistant license or eligibility for New Hampshire licensure.
• Minimum of three (3) years of orthopaedic clinical experience.
• Experience evaluating and treating a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.
• Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining collaborative relationships with physicians, providers, and staff.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
• Active New Hampshire PA license.
• Prior experience in a private practice orthopaedic setting.
• Experience staffing orthopaedic urgent care or walk-in clinics.
• Experience treating patients across multiple orthopaedic subspecialties.
SCHEDULE AND CALL REQUIREMENTS
• Full-time position.
• Flexible schedule based on practice needs.
• Ability to work evening clinic hours, including shifts extending until 8:00 PM.
• Participation in provider call coverage rotation required.
