Position Summary
New Hampshire Orthopaedic Center (NHOC), a division of Northeast Orthopaedic Alliance (NOA), is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused MRI Coordinator to join our team. This role is responsible for coordinating all aspects of MRI scheduling, ensuring patients are scheduled accurately and efficiently while delivering a high level of customer service.
The MRI Coordinator serves as a key liaison between patients, providers, and clinical staff to ensure all necessary orders and documentation are in place prior to imaging. This individual plays a critical role in supporting workflow efficiency, improving patient access to care, and ensuring a seamless scheduling experience across our practice locations.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain open communication with clinical and reception areas regarding MRI scheduling changes and other pertinent information.
Coordinate MRI appointments by reviewing orders, medical records, and clinical indications to ensure appropriate imaging is scheduled.
Assist with daily processing of office correspondence and route to the appropriate clinical or imaging department.
Provide patients with information regarding imaging preparation, scheduling logistics, and next steps; direct billing-related questions to the appropriate team.
Work closely with clinical staff, providers, and administrative departments to obtain all necessary orders and documentation required for MRI scheduling.
Verify insurance eligibility and patient demographics in applicable systems.
Ensure all imaging orders are complete and meet requirements prior to scheduling.
Coordinate and prioritize STAT or urgent MRI requests across all locations.
Schedule MRI appointments and communicate details clearly to patients, including preparation instructions.
Perform other administrative duties as needed or assigned by management.
Qualifications
Strong organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
Working knowledge of medical terminology; orthopaedic experience preferred.
Ability to interact professionally and compassionately with patients and internal teams.
Strong multitasking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in computerized scheduling systems and electronic medical records.
Strong technical skills.
Previous medical office or radiology scheduling experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit for extended periods.
Frequent phone and computer use.
