Rate of Pay: $17.56/hour
FLSA: Full-Time | Non-Exempt | Afternoons and Midnights
Reports To: Home Supervisor

At Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority (NeMCMHA), we’re looking for compassionate, dependable individuals to join our team as Residential Training Workers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on, person-centered environment and values inclusion, dignity, and empowerment.
What You’ll Do
- As a Residential Training Worker, you’ll provide essential care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities in both residential and community settings. Your responsibilities will include:
- Participating in interdisciplinary team meetings
- Delivering individualized and small-group training and treatment
- Transporting individuals in agency-owned vehicles
- Administering medications as prescribed
- Assisting with daily living tasks such as laundry, meal prep, grocery shopping, and general housekeeping
- Supporting individuals in identifying challenges and tracking progress
- Maintaining accurate case records, including progress notes, incident reports, and data logs
- Creating a safe, welcoming, and consistent living environment through gentle teaching practices
What You Bring
We’re looking for someone who is:
- At least 18 years old
- A high school graduate or GED holder (preferred)
- Experienced or knowledgeable in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
- Skilled in verbal and written communication
- Able to follow oral and written instructions
- A team player with a flexible schedule
- In possession of a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
- Lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders is highly valued.

- Document services accurately and thoroughly
- Adhere to person-centered planning principles
- Complete agency-provided group home curriculum training
- Collaborate effectively with staff, families, and community partners
- Attend required meetings and participate in quality improvement efforts
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, bend, kneel, stand, sit, lift up to 50 lbs (with or without assistance), stretch/reach, hear, see, use hand/finger dexterity, and drive. Reasonable accommodations are available.
