What You’ll Do
As a Residential Support Specialist, you’ll provide direct care and support to individuals in group homes and community environments. Responsibilities include:
- Supporting individuals in daily living tasks such as laundry, meal prep, and grocery shopping
- Providing transportation in agency-owned vehicles
- Assisting with medication distribution and documentation
- Facilitating individual and small group activities based on treatment plans
- Participating in team meetings and person-centered planning
- Maintaining accurate records, including progress notes and incident reports
- Creating a safe, welcoming, and consistent living environment
- Practicing gentle teaching and trauma-informed care
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Knowledge of developmental disabilities and mental health issues is helpful
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Lived experience with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use is valued
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Team-oriented mindset and a heart for service
