Status: Casual
Rate of Pay: $27.06 - $34.14
Reports To: Clinical Supervisor

Are you passionate about helping individuals in crisis? At Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority, we are seeking a dedicated After-Hours Crisis Clinician to provide essential psychiatric emergency services during evenings, nights, and weekends. Your expertise will help stabilize individuals, connect them to resources, and ensure they receive the care they need.
What You’ll Do
- Provide triage, crisis intervention, stabilization, and brief therapy for individuals presenting to crisis services
- Assess mental health status and report findings to the agency psychiatrist and team members
- Complete preadmission screenings to determine Medicaid eligibility for inpatient psychiatric hospitalization or alternative services
- Assist with securing placement in inpatient psychiatric units or crisis residential services
- Conduct crisis contacts after hours (in person or by phone)
- Coordinate with substance use treatment providers when appropriate
- Develop safety plans and ensure proper referrals and linkages
Qualifications
- Education: Nursing Degree, Bachelor’s in Social Work, or Master’s in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work
- Must hold appropriate certification, licensure, or registration
- Experience: One or more years of relevant mental health experience preferred; lived experience with mental illness, intellectual/developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders valued
- Strong communication skills and functional computer literacy required
- Valid Michigan driver’s license and acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements
Ability to walk, bend, stand, sit, lift up to 25 lbs (with or without assistance), stretch/reach, hear, see, and drive. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as required by law.
