Job Purpose: 

 

The Director of Operations is responsible for oversight and leadership in the areas of Information Technology, Facilities, and Compliance. This position is a senior leader and member of the organization’s Executive team.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of Facilities and IT systems, providing direct or indirect supervision of staff responsible for these functions 
  • Manage relationships with external vendors (IT providers, facilities and maintenance contractors)
  • Ensure organizational policies, staff trainings, and data security practices comply with all state, federal, and funder contract requirements
  • Develop and maintain risk management policies, including safety, security, and data protection
  • Oversee the effective operations of the organization’s administrative and front-end support staff
  • Partner with the CFO to ensure accurate expense tracking, budget alignment, and cost efficiency
  • Partner with the organization’s HR team to ensure organization compliance with contractual requirements around staff training and requisite experience  
  • Maintain knowledge of, and carefully follow, all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations 
  • Provide operational reports and recommendations to the CEO as needed 
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned

  • Maintain a positive working relationship with consumers, co-workers, referral sources and others to achieve positive outcomes
  • Maintain updated computer technology competencies i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

  • Demonstrate effective communication and problem solving skills, both verbally, written, and in electronic formats

  • Provide formal and informal transfer of knowledge and peer mentoring leadership
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of consumers, staff and, agency information

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory or management experience required  
  • Previous professional experience in operations and/or IT systems required
  • Experience in a nonprofit or human services environment preferred 
  • Strong project management background and skills 
  • Strong knowledge of compliance issues 
  • Well organized, ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines 
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments 
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and commitment to confidentiality 
  • Ability to travel independently and reliable transportation required
