The Impact You’ll Make
You will be the financial engine and strategic pulse of NorthEast BioLab. You will ensure our financial reporting is as precise as our scientific data, bridging the gap between laboratory activities and fiscal reality. Your primary goal is to provide the board and investors with the clarity needed to make strategic decisions. You won't just report on what happened, you will participate in key meetings to explain why it happened and provide the insights that dictate our next moves.
What You’ll Do
Accounting and Financial Reporting (Primary)
- Lead the monthly close process, ensuring a precise transition from cash to accrual accounting based on actual lab milestones and project stages.
- Take full ownership of day-to-day accounting tasks, including journal entries and proactive cash collection tracking.
- Deliver accurate financial statements that reflect the operational pulse of the lab.
Strategic Insights and Advisory
- Participate in management and board meetings to explain key financial trends and performance metrics.
- Translate raw data into meaningful insights that help leadership determine future actions and investment priorities.
- Conduct ad-hoc data pulls and deep-dive analysis as requested by board members and investors.
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Build and maintain a robust financial forecast model based on historical trends, current bookings, and anticipated billing cycles.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure the business remains on track for its growth and profitability targets.
Modernization, Integration, and HR
- Lead the financial onboarding and integration process as NorthEast BioLab aligns with a larger corporate entity.
- Support the modernization of lab systems, ensuring financial data flows seamlessly between the lab (LIMS) and accounting software.
- Manage essential HR duties, including the tracking of vacation and sick leave for the onsite team.

- Education & Pedigree. You ideally have a strong background in Public Accounting (Big Four or a top-tier firm) followed by industry experience.
- Industry Exposure. Experience in Services, Healthcare, Pharma, or TIC (Testing, Inspection, and Certification) environments with nuanced understanding of service-based business model.
