What are the responsibilities and job description for the Histology Technician (NR) position at Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center Health System?
Under the direction of the Department Supervisor, cuts, stains and mounts specimens of human tissue to provide data on functioning of tissues and organs, causes and/or progress of disease, following established standards and practices. Performs instruments checks and maintains appropriate records. Expected to utilize problem solving skills in resolving instrument problems.
Reviews results as assigned.
Maintains equipment and notifies appropriate vendors when instrument problems are not resolved.
Maintains work environment.
Interacts with necessary departments and agencies both within and outside of the hospital as needed.
Trains personnel and students as requested.
Prefer Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Technologist (MT) Registry (or Registry eligible) with minimum of two years comparable work experience.
Knowledge of histology and pathology instrument and equipment.
AA degree in Biological or chemical science or an approved science program from an accredited college.
Registered or registry eligible by A.S.C.P
Must have BLS/CPR by the American Heart Association.
