Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and monitoring patient status
- Perform animal restraint and handling techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments or examinations
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret results to support accurate diagnoses
- Maintain detailed medical records, including vaccination history, treatment plans, and progress notes
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians with precision and care
- Support pet owners with pet care advice, post-operative instructions, and education on animal health and husbandry
- Handle various species including dogs, cats, and occasionally horses (if desired) with confidence
- Assist in operating diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines and ultrasound
Skills
- Proven kennel experience combined with strong animal handling skills across various species
- Familiarity with laboratory techniques and equipment used in diagnostic testing
- Ability to handle dogs confidently through training techniques; skilled in dog handling and training methods
- Proficiency in X-ray operation along with aseptic technique for infection control during procedures
- Strong understanding of animal catheterization procedures and restraint techniques for safe patient management
- Excellent communication skills to educate pet owners about animal health needs effectively
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail in all tasks
