Phlebotomist/Specimen Collector

Job description:

Northwest Labs is seeking a dependable and skilled Phlebotomist and Specimen Collector to join the team at the Medical Office of John Vasallo, 4354 E Grand River Ave, Howell, MI.

You will be responsible for drawing blood from all ages, preparing blood specimens for medical and genetic testing, and ensuring accurate documentation of procedures. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a compassionate demeanor, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Experience in Phlebotomy required.

Hours:

Monday and Tuesday 8am - 6pm
Wednesday and Thursday 8am - 5pm
Friday 8am - 1pm

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Perform venipuncture and capillary puncture to collect blood specimens from patients.
• Label and prepare blood and genetic test specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols.
• Verify patient information and maintain accurate records of procedures performed.
• Provide exceptional customer service and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the blood collection process.
• Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines to maintain a clean and sterile work environment.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to coordinate specimen collection and processing.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited phlebotomy training program with certificate.
• Experience in Pediatric Phlebotomy required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in specimen labeling and documentation.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
• Familiarity with medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
• Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems, experience with Tebra a plus
