- Manage patient intake processes, including scheduling appointments and verifying insurance coverage through systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, and other EMR (Electronic Medical Records) platforms
- Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Assist with medical billing and coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, ensuring proper documentation review and submission for Medicare and other insurance providers
- Support care plan documentation by coordinating with clinical staff and updating records in various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems like Wellsky.
- Handle front desk duties including multi-line phone system management, patient service inquiries, appointment scheduling, and office management tasks
- Verify insurance benefits and perform insurance verification procedures to facilitate smooth billing processes
- Maintain confidentiality of health information by adhering to HIPAA standards while managing medical records and administrative files
- Proven experience in medical administrative support within a healthcare or hospice setting.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Epic, Wellsky highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and Medicare procedures
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with health information management software
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations
- Experience with dental terminology or dental office management is advantageous but not required
- Outstanding phone etiquette, typing speed (including 10 key typing), and customer service skills are essential for success in this role
