Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, trustworthy, & skilled Tow Truck Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in automotive diagnostics and repair, along with excellent customer service skills. As a Tow Truck Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting vehicles and providing assistance to drivers in need. This role requires a commitment to safety, professionalism, and effective conflict management. You also must live within our boundary to fulfill our police contracted times. This is an On-Call and full-time position. Hourly pay based on experiance is Mon-Fri 8am-5pm, On-Call you take a truck home and are dispatched from there (hence living close). Pay is commission based for the On-call hours. The on-call position hours are from 5pm-8am Monday-Thursday. And every other weekend from 5pm Friday until 8am Monday morning.
Responsibilities
- Operate tow trucks, including flatbed and traditional models, to transport vehicles safely.
- Perform automotive diagnostics to assess vehicle conditions before towing.
- Load and unload vehicles with care, ensuring no damage occurs during the process.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients and addressing their needs.
- Manage conflicts professionally when dealing with distressed customers or challenging situations.
- Maintain mechanical knowledge to perform minor repairs or adjustments on-site when necessary.
- Keep accurate records of all towing activities and vehicle conditions.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while on the road.
- Be able to wake up to calls on dispatch radio.
- Able to bring a truck home and park it safely.
- Must be able to pass a pre employment drug test.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving with a valid driver's license.
- DOT medical card
- Strong mechanical knowledge and experience in automotive repair are preferred.
- Familiarity with manual transmission vehicles is a plus.
- Previous experience as a tow truck driver or in a related field is beneficial.
- Skills in conflict management and customer service are essential for success in this role.
