Job Summary (List Format)
- Serve as an Electronic Laboratory Reporting (ELR) Specialist within the Surveillance Systems and Informatics (SSI) Program at the Tennessee Department of Health.
- Support and manage ELR onboarding processes using HL7 2.5.1 standards.
- Provide input and manage production monitoring tasks (alerts, dashboard development, maintenance, and issue identification).
- Independently investigate ELR processing issues and propose solutions.
- Collaborate with Rhapsody developers to enhance or define new ELR processing routes.
- Assist in processing laboratory data submitted through alternate file formats (e.g., flat files).
- Coordinate routine and ad hoc management of standard interoperability vocabulary in the disease surveillance system.
- Act as a liaison to downstream users of ELR data within TDH and CEDEP.
- Support ELR maintenance tasks (parallel validation, LOINC code assignments, handling production errors).
- Gain exposure to and experience in the use and development of interoperability standards (e.g., HL7) and system integration projects.
- May participate in supporting other SSI informatics projects and initiatives (such as REDCap).
- 1-3 years of work experience with ELR onboarding and/or maintenance at a state or local health department.
- 1-3 years of experience with Rhapsody or defining specifications for Rhapsody developers.
- Experience writing statistical and analytical programming code (SAS, SQL, or R).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Project management experience.
