North Star Community Services provides Day Habilitation and Supported Community Living services for individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to help the people we serve realize their dreams - and to create life-changing experiences for both our clients and our employees.

We're looking for you if you're compassionate, a natural problem-solver, comfortable with basic computer tasks, and motivated by helping others reach their goals while growing your own career.

Pay

$15.95 - $16.87 per hour

What You'll Do

• Support daily living: Assist clients with everyday activities such as personal care, hygiene, meal preparation, medication reminders, and household tasks.
• Build independence: Coach and encourage clients in skill-building toward their personal goals and greater self-sufficiency.
• Encourage community engagement: Accompany and support clients in community activities, appointments, work, and recreation.
• Ensure health and safety: Maintain a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment and respond appropriately to clients' needs.
• Transport clients: Drive or accompany clients to appointments, activities, and errands as needed.
• Document care: Accurately record daily activities, progress toward goals, and any incidents.
• Collaborate: Work as part of a care team, communicating with families, supervisors, and other professionals.

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving history
• Compassion, patience, and strong problem-solving skills
• Basic computer skills

LocationsSchedules Available

We have full-time, part-time, and PRN/float openings across several locations:

Waterloo

• Day Habilitation: 7:00 AM-3:30 PM or 7:30 AM-4:00 PM
• Supported Community Living: full-timepart-time, evenings and weekends

Waverly - Supported Community Living (full-timepart-time)

• Sundays 12:00 PM-6:00 PM and 8:00 PM-8:30 AM (30.5 hrs/week, full-time)
• MonFri 2:00-6:00 PM, Sat 12:30-8:30 PM, plus Fri 11:00 AM-3:00 PM (with 30 min for documentation) (35 hrs/week)
• Mondays 2:00-5:00 PM
• Fridays 11:00 AM-3:00 PM

Vinton - Supported Community Living: PRN / Float

Mason City - Supported Community Living: PRN / Float
