Our Kennel Associates are instrumental in ensuring the general health and well-being of the animals as you assist in finding quality homes for them. Must love dogs and cats! Save Puppy Mill dogs and cats, help rehabilitate abandoned animals and love them while they wait for their forever homes!
All of our positions are annual, no summer only employment.
The full time position will require you to work 5 days/40 hours per week including 1 weekend shift and part time positions will require you to work either 24 hours a week/ 3 days- 8 hours per or 16 hours/2 days-8 hours per day including at least 1 weekend shift per week.
Position shifts will be a combination of:
7:00 am - 3:00 pm
10:00 am -6:00 pm
12:00 pm -8:00 pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Feed and provide fresh water, Food and. Restock the feed area.
- Clean and disinfect all areas, kennel runs, bedding, water buckets and toys.
- Maintain cleanliness of all the different areas of the Shelter space which includes sweeping, mopping, scrubbing floors and walls when needed, dusting, and other cleaning duties as assigned.
- Observe animal appearance and activity for general physical condition, obvious signs of illness, disease and discontent.
- Write up and notify management of animals to be seen when they show signs of illness.
- Ensure cage cards are accurate on all kennel runs and cages.
- Assist with adoption process when needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Basic understanding of cats and their body language and behavior.
- Previous experience working hands-on with felines in a shelter environment or veterinary facility a plus.
- Positive and friendly attitude, Good communication and listening skills.
- Must be dependable, responsible and punctual.
- Ability to work independent, able to think on your feet.
- Desire to make a positive difference in the lives of animals.
