The Opportunity
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead and execute all aspects of the HR function. This is a highly visible, standalone role responsible for the full employee lifecycle—from recruitment and onboarding to payroll, benefits, employee relations, compliance, performance management and policy development.
This role is ideal for someone who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution and is passionate about supporting a mission-driven culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer payroll and benefits programs (experience with ADP preferred)
- Oversee employee benefits programs, including enrollment, renewals, employee communication and partnering with benefit providers and vendors.
- Lead full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and employee lifecycle management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Develop and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook
- Support a positive, mission-aligned culture through engagement initiatives
- Manage HR systems, records, and reporting
- Partner cross-functionally to support organizational goals and projects
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to modeling North Raleigh Ministries core values: compassion, accountability, respect, and education
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3 years of experience in Human Resources, nonprofit, or community-based environments
- Experience with payroll, benefits administration, and HR operations
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities
