Job Description:
The North Middlesex School District is seeking a dedicated Assistant Coach for Unified Strength and Conditioning to support the development of all student-athletes, including those with and without disabilities. The Assistant Coach will work under the guidance of the Head Unified Strength and Conditioning Coach to implement inclusive fitness programs, ensure safety, and foster a positive and motivating environment for all participants.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about fitness, inclusive coaching, and helping students achieve their physical, social, and emotional potential.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching & Instruction
Assist the Head Coach in planning and leading strength, conditioning, and fitness sessions for a diverse group of student-athletes.
Demonstrate and instruct proper exercise techniques, ensuring safe and effective participation.
Adapt drills and exercises to accommodate varying skill levels and physical abilities.
Motivate and support athletes in reaching their personal fitness and skill development goals.
Mentorship & Team Culture
Serve as a role model, promoting integrity, teamwork, resilience, and a positive attitude.
Encourage athletes to develop confidence, leadership skills, and a sense of personal responsibility.
Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and supportive team culture where all participants feel valued.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with the Head Coach to implement program goals and strategies.
Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school staff, and the Athletic Director regarding progress, concerns, and program updates.
Participate in planning sessions, team meetings, and professional development activities.
Safety & Compliance
Monitor athletes for signs of fatigue, improper form, or injury and intervene appropriately.
Ensure all exercises and activities are conducted safely and in accordance with North Middlesex School District policies and guidelines.
Maintain certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and any required concussion or safety training.
Adhere to all district, MIAA, and NFHS guidelines as applicable.
Qualifications:
Required:
Experience in coaching, fitness training, or athletic conditioning, preferably with youth or school-age athletes.
Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles and safe exercise practices.
Ability to work with diverse student-athletes, including those with disabilities.
Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive training environment.
Preferred:
Certification in strength and conditioning (CSCS, NASM, ACE, or equivalent).
Experience with Unified Sports or inclusive athletic programs.
Background in physical education, athletic training, or related field.
Experience mentoring youth in both athletic and personal development.
Salary:
Per North Middlesex Regional School District Coach Stipend Schedule or program allocation.
