Job Description:
North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Varsity Girls Volleyball Head Coach to lead the high school volleyball program. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and overseeing all aspects of the varsity girls volleyball team, including practice planning, game preparation, and team management. The head coach will also be expected to create a positive and competitive environment that fosters athletic growth, teamwork, and character development among student-athletes.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of volleyball fundamentals, as well as the ability to lead and motivate athletes to perform at their highest potential. The head coach will emphasize not only the development of technical volleyball skills but also the growth of leadership, communication, discipline, and sportsmanship.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching & Player Development:
Lead and develop the varsity volleyball team, focusing on improving individual and team skills, strategy, and game performance.
Create and implement a comprehensive training program that addresses technical skills, physical conditioning, and tactical strategies.
Provide individual feedback and mentorship to student-athletes to promote personal and athletic growth.
Foster leadership qualities and encourage athletes to develop good communication skills both on and off the court.
Team Management & Supervision:
Supervise the team during practices, games, and other team events, ensuring safety, discipline, and adherence to team rules.
Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and respect within the team, emphasizing positive attitudes and ethical behavior.
Manage team dynamics and foster a supportive, inclusive, and competitive team culture.
Coordinate team logistics, including travel, equipment management, and scheduling.
Game Day Preparation & Strategy:
Prepare the team for competitions by designing effective warm-up routines, player rotations, and match strategies.
Make in-game adjustments and provide real-time feedback to improve team performance.
Maintain a high level of communication with assistant coaches and other team staff during games.
Collaboration & Communication:
Work closely with the athletic department, parents, and other coaches to ensure the success of the volleyball program.
Communicate regularly with athletes and their families to ensure that players are balancing academics and athletics.
Organize and maintain clear communication with school staff and the athletic department regarding team progress, needs, and expectations.
Compliance & Safety:
Ensure that all team activities and practices comply with North Middlesex School District policies and MIAA regulations.
Prioritize athlete safety by following concussion management protocols and maintaining a safe practice environment.
Ensure that all players meet MIAA eligibility requirements and maintain academic standards.
Professional Development:
Stay current with the latest volleyball coaching techniques, strategies, and trends by attending clinics, workshops, and conferences.
Continuously evaluate and improve coaching methods to ensure the best experience for athletes.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience, preferably at the high school or collegiate level, with a strong focus on player development and volleyball fundamentals.
Strong knowledge of volleyball strategies, rules, and game management.
Ability to motivate and mentor student-athletes, fostering a positive and disciplined team environment.
Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to balance academic and athletic priorities for student-athletes.
Must meet all district and MIAA coaching requirements, including Concussion Training (NFHS or CDC-approved), First Aid & CPR Certification, and CORI/SORI Background Check.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
Previous experience playing volleyball at the high school or collegiate level.
Previous experience coaching high school or collegiate volleyball.
Knowledge of injury prevention and fitness techniques relevant to volleyball.
Ability to work with a diverse group of student-athletes and foster a positive, inclusive environment.
Salary:
Per NMRSD Coach Stipend Schedule.
