Summary

The Bedford North Lawrence High School (BNL HS) Robotics Sponsor plays a vital role in fostering student interest and participation in robotics and engineering. This position involves guiding and mentoring students in the design, construction, and programming of robots for competitions and educational purposes. The Robotics Sponsor will work collaboratively with students, faculty, and the community to promote STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education and inspire the next generation of innovators.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and guide students in robotics projects, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Organize and oversee robotics club meetings, practices, and competitions.
• Collaborate with students to develop project plans, timelines, and budgets for robotics initiatives.
• Facilitate hands-on learning experiences in robotics, programming, and engineering principles.
• Coordinate fundraising efforts to support the robotics program, including sponsorship outreach and grant applications.
• Maintain and manage robotics equipment and materials, ensuring safety and proper usage.
• Foster partnerships with local businesses, organizations, and educational institutions to enhance the robotics program.
• Encourage student participation in local, regional, and national robotics competitions.
• Stay updated on advancements in robotics technology and educational methodologies to enhance the program.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school administration regarding program developments and opportunities.
  
  

Requirements

• A strong background in robotics, engineering, or a related field, with relevant experience in mentoring or teaching.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
• Experience with programming languages and robotics software (e.g., Arduino, VEX, LEGO Mindstorms, etc.).
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• A passion for STEM education and a commitment to fostering student growth and development.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and community members.
• Availability to attend after-school meetings, competitions, and events as needed.
• A valid background check and compliance with school district policies and procedures.
• Prior experience in a leadership role, such as coaching or mentoring, is preferred but not required.
