ACCOUNTANT Jr.

The Organization

North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition- age youth, to adults and aging adults.

DEPARTMENT:

SUMMARY:

Ensures accuracy in inventory processes and oversees vendor compliance project workflows. Performs advanced accounting and budgeting tasks, including financial analysis and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Assigned duties may vary and other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages all aspects of inventory, including reconciliations and related tasks.
  • Tracks, reviews, and follows up on independent audit and review reports submitted by vendors in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Processes and disburses weekly money management check runs.
  • Submits the audit and compliance-related documents to Department of Developmental Services.
  • Assists accountants with audit field work.
  • Supports accountants with internal audits.
  • Prepares and maintains various spreadsheets and reports.
  • Files and archives audit team documents, including internal audits and vendor reviews in Therefore.
  • Maintains departmental budgets and tracks expenditures. Prepares, reconciles, analyzes, and distributes expenditure reports. Forecasts and makes recommendations to resolve potential shortages.
  • Reconciles bank accounts to general ledger. Manages voided, manual and stale-dated checks.
  • Trains accounting staff on complex general ledger coding and department coding, and entering payables, reclassifications, voids, and manual checks in proprietary accounting software.
  • Coordinates month-end closings.
  • Reconciles month-end expenditures data and prepares complex, monthly billing reports.
  • Reconciles and maintains general ledger and subsidiary accounts. Investigates and resolves discrepancies.
  • Prepares annual use tax return.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries.
  • Generates, analyzes, and reconciles a variety of monthly and annual reports.
  • Participates in training of internal staff on accounting functions and procedures.
  • Provides customer support to internal staff by responding to inquiries.
  • Reviews rate increase requests from vendors. Analyzes rate information and supporting documentation. Conducts trainings for vendors on completing rate increase requests and provides customer service to vendors by responding to inquiries.
  • Performs various accounts payable, accounts receivable and accounting functions as required.
  • Maintains accounting files and records.
  • Performs other related duties as required.


EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in accounting or related field from a four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 or more years of accounting experience.


KNOWLEDGE And/or SKILLS

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, procedures and terminology, accounts payable and accounts receivable systems, general ledger systems, and bank reconciliation.
  • Ability to operate a computer and enter data accurately.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.


LICENSES and/or CERTIFICATES

  • Valid driver’s license may be required based upon assigned duties.

Compensation

This position is non-exempt. Regular Salary: $29.49 - $41.66 per hour.

Base Pay Rate / Salary Range Information

The actual amount offered within the posted salary/pay rate range will depend on a variety of factors, including degree obtained/education, experience, skills and abilities, and other relevant job-related factors. The lower end of salary range applies to candidates who meet minimum qualifications or have limited years of relevant experience; the higher end of range will apply to seasoned candidates with considerable years of direct relevant experience.
