Job Purpose
The Thrift Store plays a key role in maintaining the flow of goods from the warehouse to the sales floor, keeping merchandise fresh and organized, and supporting volunteers and staff in following merchandising and pricing standards. This position provides oversight of pricing practices to ensure merchandise is consistently evaluated and priced according to established store guidelines. The Thrift Store Assistant also provides excellent customer service and supports checkout operations.

Job Purpose
The Thrift Store plays a key role in maintaining the flow of goods from the warehouse to the sales floor, keeping merchandise fresh and organized, and supporting volunteers and staff in following merchandising and pricing standards. This position provides oversight of pricing practices to ensure merchandise is consistently evaluated and priced according to established store guidelines. The Thrift Store Assistant also provides excellent customer service and supports checkout operations.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure all merchandise is priced according to established thrift store pricing guidelines and standards.
- Review priced merchandise for accuracy, consistency, and quality before it reaches the sales floor.
- Maintain a consistent flow of products to ensure shelves and racks remain stocked.
- Organize backstock and coordinate with warehouse staff to prioritize merchandise for display.
- Assist in maintaining pricing guides and ensuring staff and volunteers have access to current pricing information.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pricing and inventory area.
- Ensure the proper display of merchandise.
- Follow the organization’s policies and procedures regarding cash handling.
- Provide regular frontend support by operating the pointofsale (POS) system, processing customer purchases, handling cash and electronic payments, and assisting customers with questions, concerns, and storerelated inquiries.
- Display excellent customer service by treating donors and store shoppers respectfully and courteously.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Production, retail, or similar experience
- Able to lift 50 pounds
- Selfstarter with ability to work independently
- 17.75 per hour pay rate.
