We are seeking a detail-oriented, part-time medical billing professional to join our physical therapy practice. This role will focus primarily on insurance and patient billing, posting of insurance payments, and collections. You will be working alongside our full-time billing specialist, who is responsible for the broader billing operations. This is a collaborative position, best suited for someone with experience in medical billing and a strong understanding of insurance reimbursement and patient account follow-up. Occasional support at the front desk or in the treatment area may also be required as needed. This position is 20 - 24 hours per weekAbout our PracticeWe are a patient-centered physical therapy practice owned by a female physical therapist for just over 36 years. We are a private practice, not corporate owned. While we treat all conditions, we specialize in treating head, neck, jaw, orofacial pain, headaches and myofascial pain conditions. Our patients receive individualized, one-on-one care from licensed physical therapists. It is important to us that our patients receive a warm, friendly and knowledgeable experience.Responsibilities include:· Answer patient questions regarding their insurance, billing and account balances· Bill physical therapy codes using our electronic billing program (PT PracticePro)· Submit insurance claims though a clearing house· Post insurance payments· Follow up on unpaid, underpaid, or denied claims and file appeals when necessary· Bill patients, collect outstanding balances, and post patient payments· Record insurance and patient payments received by mail or phone, and submit to the business manager· Verify insurance benefits as needed (not primary responsibility)Additional Support Responsibilities as Needed:· Answer phones when the front desk receptionist is unavailable· Schedule patient appointments· Educate new patients about our practice and specialties· Data entry of demographic, insurance and case information for new patients· Assist in the treatment rooms as neededSkills Preferred and Qualifications:· Proficiency with billing and scheduling software· Familiarity with the insurance claims process· Strong understanding of insurance terminology (deductibles, co-pays, co- insurances, out-of-pocket, in/out-of-network, third parties, etc.)· Ability to interpret and analyze Explanation of Benefits and Electronic Remittance Advice· Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills· Clear and professional communication skills· Commitment to accuracy and timeliness in all billing and posting activitiesIf you have applied and we are interested, we will reach out to you through ZipRecruiter to set up a preliminary phone interview.
