What are the responsibilities and job description for the North Haven High School - Cheerleading Head Coach position at North Haven High School?
North Haven High School is seeking a Head Coach for its Cheerleading Program. The responsibilities for this job include, but are not limited to:
- Work and communicate with the North Haven Athletic Department, including the athletic director and administrative assistant in all necessary capacities
- Supervise student-athletes at all times, including all practices, games and competitions
- Supervise student-athletes during transportation to and from “away” games and competitions
- Coordinate and direct the Varsity Competition Team
- Coordinate and assist the assistant coach with the JV Team
- Coordinate and direct the Spirit Team that cheers at football, boys’ basketball and girls’ basketball games
- Coordinate and direct the Unified Cheerleading Team
- Schedule, organize, prepare and implement practice sessions on a regular basis to develop the student-athletes’ greatest potential
- Demonstrate positive characteristics and serve as a role model for student-athletes
- Assign all duties of assistant coaches, JV coaches and volunteer coaches working under head coach’s supervision
- Maintain accurate inventory/record of equipment and uniforms and submit an itemized report at the end of each season to the athletic director
- Assume responsibility for constant care of equipment and facilities
- Communicate effectively with parents as it relates to student-athletes, which includes having a preseason meeting
The successful candidate must possess, or be working towards a Connecticut Coaching Certification (must be in place before the season begins); be CPR, AED and First Aid certified before the first practice; have previous coaching and/or playing experience with the sport. Compensation will follow North Haven’s coach’s stipend scale.
