Position Title: Elementary Special Education Teacher

Position Overview:
The Elementary Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The teacher will work collaboratively with general education staff, related service providers, families, and administrators to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that fosters academic, social, and behavioral growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Provide direct instruction to students in a variety of settings, including resource rooms, inclusion classrooms, and small groups.
- Adapt general education curriculum and materials to meet the needs of students with diverse learning needs.
- Collect and analyze student data to guide instruction and monitor progress toward IEP goals.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and co-teaching models.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, services, and strategies for support.
- Participate in case conferences, multidisciplinary team meetings, and Response to Intervention (RTI) processes as needed.
- Implement positive behavioral supports and interventions consistent with student behavior plans.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with school, district, and legal requirements.
- Ensure a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for all students.
Qualifications:
- Valid Indiana teaching license in Special Education (or reciprocal certification).
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
- Experience with inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, and behavioral supports preferred.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and student success.
Working Conditions:
- School-based setting with occasional district-wide collaboration or professional development.
- May require participation in crisis intervention training (e.g., CPI).
