Commercial Concrete Foreman

Position Summary

The Concrete Finisher Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating all phases of concrete construction projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to company quality standards, project specifications, and schedules. This position leads a crew of concrete finishers and laborers while maintaining productivity, enforcing safety policies, and communicating effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, and other field personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise, lead, and motivate a concrete finishing crew on commercial and heavy civil construction projects.
• Read and interpret blueprints, site plans, elevations, and project specifications.
• Plan daily work activities and assign tasks to crew members.
• Ensure proper site preparation, grading, formwork, reinforcement placement, and concrete placement.
• Oversee concrete pouring, screeding, floating, edging, jointing, troweling, stamping, and finishing operations.
• Verify proper concrete mix, slump, placement techniques, and curing methods.
• Inspect forms, elevations, slopes, and finished surfaces to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Coordinate daily with Project Managers, Superintendents, Survey Crew, and subcontractors.
• Maintain production schedules while meeting quality expectations.
• Conduct daily safety meetings (Toolbox Talks) and enforce OSHA and company safety policies.
• Identify and correct unsafe work conditions immediately.
• Ensure all crew members wear required PPE at all times.
• Monitor equipment usage and report maintenance needs.
• Order and manage materials, tools, and equipment needed for daily operations.
• Complete Daily Foreman Reports, production reports, equipment inspections, and timekeeping accurately.
• Train and mentor crew members on proper concrete finishing techniques and company procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial or heavy civil concrete experience.
• Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of concrete placement, finishing, forming, and curing methods.
• Experience operating construction equipment is preferred.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Stand, walk, kneel, crouch, bend, and climb throughout the workday.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or overtime as project schedules require.

Working Conditions

• Outdoor construction environment.
• Exposure to heat, cold, rain, dust, mud, noise, vibration, and heavy equipment.
• Requires frequent interaction with heavy machinery and moving vehicles.

Safety Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safety and accountability.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Conduct pre-task planning and daily safety briefings.
• Report all incidents, injuries, near misses, and property damage immediately.
• Stop work whenever unsafe conditions exist until hazards have been corrected.

Pay: $78,000.00 - $93,600.00 per year
