The mission of the Research and Faculty Development unit within the Office of Research and Creative Activity is to be a strategic resource for promoting research development across campus, providing mentorship and resources for faculty to be successful in external funding, and supporting interdisciplinary initiatives.

Description & Details:

The Research and Creative Activity Office is seeking a team member for the Research and Faculty Development unit who will have an active role in developing and maintaining internal application submission and review processes; managing the logistics of events such as workshops, seminars, and conferences; developing reports and related research development materials; researching and distributing grant funding opportunities; assisting with pre-award proposal development activities; and providing other general support, including budgeting for research development initiatives.

This position will develop a comprehensive understanding of NDSU research capabilities and assist in connecting researchers with funding opportunities and research resources as well as develop a comprehensive understanding of funding agency guidelines and requirements. The position will provide support for Limited Submission proposal and review processes; proposal development, including review of proposals for compliance with agency requirements; and developing resources, tools, training sessions, and materials to broadly facilitate aspects of proposal development and writing. The position will assist with all aspects of research development events, programming, and training activities and maintain a calendar of grant opportunities that facilitates a proactive approach to supporting faculty.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm academic year, 7:30 am-4:00 pm summer hours/winter break hours

Hiring Range: $52,000-$59,500 plus excellent benefits!

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2 years minimum working in an administrative or operations role or in a grant-funded center/program
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Microsoft Office experience (Teams, Planner, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Demonstrated experience meeting project deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously with limited supervision

  • Demonstrated experience preparing and coordinating meetings and events

  • Detail-oriented and ability to problem solve

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with university-sponsored research processes or external funders

  • Experience with project management and business unit operations

  • Demonstrated experience utilizing Microsoft suite of applications
