Description & Details: This position is responsible for assisting with spring and fall packaging activities, monitoring stock quantities and quality, assisting with greenhouse operations, maintaining records, and assisting with all nursery activities as directed. The position reports to the Lead Greenhouse Technician. The position is a member of the nursery team which is responsible for planning and directing the Towner State Nursery.

Work Schedule: 40 hours/week; 8 - 5 or similar, with occasional evening and weekend work required.

Hiring Range: $45,000- $49,000 depending on experience

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in horticulture, plant sciences, or related area OR 2 years of directly related experience in an agriculture setting OR combination of both.

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Able to obtain ND pesticide applicators license.


Preferred Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications plus:

  • Knowledge of plant propagation principles.
    • Experience with irrigation systems.
    • Tree and woody plant knowledge (identification, growth rates, species used in the Northern Plains).
    • Class B CDL License.

Core Competencies:

  • Computer skills – Proficient in using inventory management software, data entry, Microsoft office.

  • Communication skills – strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with suppliers, co-workers, and management.

  • Mathematical competency.

  • Problem solving skills – able to identify and resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies or shortages.
