NDSU TEMP Forestry/Natural Resources Student Intern

Location: Lisbon, ND

Period of Employment: Part-time temporary seasonal. September 16th - October 31st or as available.

Duties: Individually, as part of a team, or while assisting full-time staff.

Field and Office work related to Forest Inventories, Windbreak Assessments, and Management Options for landowners

• Data collection and entry.
• Provide technical assistance to landowners through management options via reports and GIS products.
• Inform landowners of financial assistance programs available to meet their goals

Skills required:

• Excellent communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied terrain and all-weather conditions.

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn and work as a team.

Preferred additional skills/experience:

• Background/major in natural resources, forestry, range management, plant sciences, or similar.
• Experience with ESRI GIS software.
• Experience working with landowners and/or the public.
• Experience in natural resources data collection.

• Use of forestry tools.

• Experience with planting or management of windbreaks

Pay: $14.50/hour. Enrolled students may negotiate receiving credits with a major professor in the case of an internship.

Work Schedule: variable

Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
