What are the responsibilities and job description for the NDSU Temp Conservation Nursery Assistant position at North Dakota State University?
This is a part-time or temporary non-benefited position.
Description & Details:
Individually, as part of a team, or while assisting full-time staff.
Conservation nursery administration work
Assist and train Nursery Technician, and document these processes
Enter inventory into spreadsheet prior to lifting – numbers and species
Enter daily totals into spreadsheet
Plan, organize, record and keep adequate inventory for orders each day
Additional training as needed
Advise grading room staff on equipment repair and operation, and document recommendations
Cross-train with Nursery Sales Manager on seedling order system and:
Fill in when Nursery Sales Manager is absent.
Assist with order system as needed during periods of heavy demand
Assist in setting up new seeders
Assist with overseeing and getting bids for greenhouse and water projects
Provide assistance to the Nursery Manger to support tree production activities
Work Schedule: 20 hours or less per week, schedule as approved by Nursery Manager.
Advertised Pay: $25/hour
Pay is based on several factors, including budget, labor market, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and/or certification and other business considerations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage conservation tree nursery inventory and sales data.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work safely indoors and outdoors in a conservation nursery environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with conservation nursery tree inventory and inventory management.
- Experience with conservation nursery operations, administration, and equipment
- Experience with tree seedling production and sales.
- Experience working with landowners and/or the public.
