Help improve the lives of North Dakota citizens by working with public safety technologies and infrastructure to empower our public safety members across the state. North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) is seeking a Public Safety Systems Administrator. This role is vital in ensuring public safety teams have the technology tools needed at their fingertips.
As one of our Public Safety Systems Administrators, you will support and assist in public safety operations affecting 911 dispatch and statewide first responder systems, as well as provide the dedicated support to ongoing disasters and emergency operations in North Dakota. This position works a hybrid schedule in Bismarck, ND, and has a rotating after hours on call responsibility. On site requirements are at least once a week, but will be more during times of training, large-scale disasters, or upgrade implementations.
In this role, you will:
- Troubleshoot, research, analyze, document, and resolve complex technical problems. for State and local government, dispatch centers, and first responders.
- Implement and test backup and recovery procedures which include catastrophic disaster recovery planning and procedures.
- Implement event, issue, and operational logging to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Consult with NDIT, vendor, and project managers
- Evaluate maintenance/new release documentation for hardware and software.
- Provide after-hours and on-call support.

To be considered for this role, you must have one of the following:
A bachelor's degree in computer science or management information systems or a closely related degree
Or
2 years of current and progressive work experience supporting, administering, and implementing enterprise servers, applications, network, and hardware, or public safety/first responder systems.
Additional professional work experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a year for year basis.
A background or knowledge in public safety/first responder systems is preferred but not required.
Salary : $6,000 - $6,500
