Help improve the lives of North Dakota citizens by supporting the North Dakota Information Technology (NDIT) Accounting Team, as an Accountant I. This role can be filled in at either our Bismarck or Fargo office and will work onsite one day a week. The rest of the time, the position can work remotely from home.

As an Accountant I, you will provide support to the organization internally as well as support to our external customers.
In this role, you will:
  • Perform accounting duties in accordance with GAAP and GASB standards.
  • Prepare and update supporting spreadsheets
  • Be responsible for managing the Accounts Payable inbox
  • Serve as contact for vendor inquiries and issues
  • Assist with annual 1099 statements
  • Assist with NDIT Accounts Receivable deposits
  • Prepare and reconcile deposits
The ideal candidate for this position should have general knowledge in accounting, AP/AR, Excel, and standard office technologies in order to effectively perform the above outlined duties. To be successful in this role, you must have excellent communication and diplomacy skills and work effectively with a variety of governmental officials and customers. The selected candidate will have strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities and thrive in a team environment.

To be considered for this role, you must have:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, statistics, economics, business or a related field

Or

An associate degree in accounting, statistics, economics, business or a related field and one year of current and progressive accounting experience working with accounts payable or receivable, creating reports in Excel, and compiling financial reports/records in a medium to large size organization.

Or

Three years of current and progressive accounting experience as written above.
