North Dakota Studies Curriculum Specialist

Summary of Work

Are you a teacher who enjoys bringing North Dakota history to life in the classroom? The State Historical Society of North Dakota is seeking a part-time teacher to support the North Dakota Studies program through the development of engaging classroom resources and educational content.

Under the direction of the Education Outreach Supervisor, this position will support North Dakota Studies by developing and updating lesson plans and classroom activities, incorporating primary sources and historical thinking skills, and contributing content to the North Dakota Studies newsletter. This is an opportunity for an educator to share their classroom expertise while helping provide high-quality resources for teachers and students across North Dakota.

Job Duration: This is a part-time position working approximately 4 hours per week. The position will continue through completion of the new 4th grade North Dakota Studies book, which is anticipated to take approximately four years.

Duties and Tasks

Primary responsibilities of this position include:

• Develop and update lesson plans, classroom activities, and other educational resources that support North Dakota Studies curriculum and programming.
Develop and contribute educational content for the North Dakota Studies newsletter.

Minimum Qualifications

To be successful in this position, applicants must have a bachelor's degree in education and current or recent experience teaching in a K-12 setting. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching social studies, knowledge of North Dakota history, and experience developing lesson plans or other educational resources.
