Oil & Gas Meter Engineering Technician
The Oil & Gas Division of the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) has an opening for an Oil & Gas Meter Engineering Technician to work in the Dickinson Field Office. The Oil and Gas Division regulates the drilling and production of oil and gas in North Dakota. As a Meter Engineering Technician, you will play a key role in the Oil & Gas Division's mission by ensuring all DMR regulations and national standards are followed by:
Witnessing:
- Oil provers perform oil custody transfer and allocation meter provings
- Waterdraws
- Master meter provings
- Gas custody transfer & allocation meter calibrations
- Sampling of oil for vapor pressure
Checking:
- meter installations to ensure proper installation
- Commingled Central Tank Batteries
To thrive in this role, you should be a dependable, responsible, strong communicator and self-starter who enjoys working outdoors year-round, with a strong understanding of technology; oil and gas standards, working with dedicated inspection software along with GIS programs, and computer-aided database software.
This full-time position is primarily field based with some office duties. The office will be in Dickinson ND, but remote office work may be allowed for those living in the surrounding areas. The position offers a strong work-life balance with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule ending by 5:00 p.m., year-round flex schedule, with the potential of some overnight stays and minimal evening or weekend work.
The Hiring Salary Range is: $38,160 - $53,160 per year, or $3,180- $4,430 per month

To be considered for this role, you must have a High School Diploma/GED; a valid Driver's License; knowledge of hydraulics, motors, pumps, pressure gauges or machinery; experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams; and the ability to work in the ND climate.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Include, an Associate's Degree in a related field; oil & gas experience; familiarity with using GIS mapping software; and good verbal & written communication skills.
As well as familiarity with the following national oil & gas industry standards:
- American Petroleum Institute (API)
- American Gas Association (AGA)
- National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)
- American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM)
