What are the responsibilities and job description for the Chief School Business Official (CSBO) position at North Cook Intermediate Service Center?
The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026 however there is some flexibility for an exceptional candidate to start earlier
Essential Duties:
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the overall goals and objectives of North Cook ISC.
- Financial Management: Monitor financial performance, analyze financial data, and prepare budgets to guide financial planning. Prepares periodic financial statements and reports to NCISC leadership and ISBE.
- Compliance: Establishes and maintains internal controls and an accounting system that complies with GAAP, GATA, and ISBE Program Accounting requirements. Stays current with all new laws and regulations.
- Grant Management: Manage all grants including all reporting and compliance requirements.
- Audits: Performs all pre-audit requirements. Communicates with auditors and provides required data and information.
- Oversee Payroll, Accounts Payable & Receivables: Including lead management for the ERP (currently iVisions).
- Facility Management: Oversee facility operations, including but not limited to utilities, assets, leases, health, life, safety, and acquiring property in support of strategic goals.
- Information Technology: Oversee outsourced technology companies for phones, infrastructure/networks, cyber security, user access, hardware, software, and day to day operations.
- Team Leadership: Lead and motivate employees, fostering a positive work environment and ensuring high levels of productivity and collaboration.
- Risk Management: Assess and mitigate risks including ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards. Secure appropriate insurance (cyber, work comp, liability, etc). Establishes a system of internal controls.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including the governing board and the leadership team to ensure clarity of goals and objectives.
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Chief School Business Official (CSBO) endorsement required.
- At least five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage people effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across departments.
- Analytical mindset with a strategic approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, email, organizing, etcetera and familiarity with financial analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
