What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Softball Umpire - Contracted position at North Clackamas Parks and Recreation?
North Clackamas Parks and Recreation District’s operates softball leagues for persons ages 18 at Nelson Sports Complex in Happy Valley, OR.
Umpires are independent contractors and earn $34/game. Most umpires work 2-4 games. New umpires receive a USA Softball polo and hat that is to be worn while umpiring and new umpire bonus of $50 is paid after you umpire 10 games. Additional contract items include mileage reimbursement per day if you are more than 10 miles away from the park.
Responsibilities:
- Umpire softball games fairly and efficiently utilizing established USA Softball & league rules.
- Work cohesively with UIC and other program staff to ensure a great experience for the players and teams within the program.
- Establish positive working relationships with players, and managers.
- Complete game reports.
- Representing NCPRD Sports in a professional manner at all times.
Qualifications:
- Age 18 and older.
- Knowledge of the game of softball and rules.
- Prior softball umpiring experience required.
- Firm, yet compassionate demeanor with quick, decisive decision-making skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills in order to explain and enforce our rules and regulations in a positive and professional manner.
Game Days / Times:
Summer: Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays June 7 - August 14
Fall: Sundays, September 13 - November 1
Game times: Weeknights 6:30-11:00pm, Sundays 1:00 pm – 10:00 pm
All chosen candidates will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
