Summer Internship: May 18, 2026 – August 28, 2026

Weekly Hours: Working approximately 20-29 hours per week.

We are looking for a motivated and organized project management intern to the Executive Director’s Office and assist with various tasks related to planning, executing, and monitoring projects. This internship is designed to offer real-world insights and exposure to actual projects, providing a solid foundation in managing projects from conception to completion. You will work closely with our project managers and other team members to learn about project management methodologies, tools, and best practices. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the success of our projects by performing research, analysis, documentation, and communication tasks.

Ideal candidates should attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region and be able to work up to 20-29 hours per week while attending school.

Responsibilities:

  • Support project managers in initiating, planning, organizing and closing projects.
  • Assist with creating and updating project documents, such as project plans, schedules, budgets, risk registers, status reports, etc.
  • Conduct research and analysis on project-related topics, such as trends, etc.
  • Communicate with internal and external project stakeholders, such as clients, vendors, team members, etc.
  • Participate in project meetings and workshops and take notes and action items.
  • Perform other administrative and operational tasks as assigned by project managers.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Project Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong interest and passion for project management and learning new skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with project management software, such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Asana, Trello, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment, such as political science, urban/regional planning, public administration, or related field.
  • No work experience required

Hourly Rate:

  • $17.09 - $18.09 per hour

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) is a voluntary association of, by and for local governments, and was established to assist local governments in planning for common needs, cooperating for mutual benefit, and coordinating for sound regional development. NCTCOG's purpose is to strengthen both the individual and collective power of local governments and to help them recognize regional opportunities, eliminate unnecessary duplication, and make joint decisions. Since 1974, NCTCOG has served as the Metropolitan Planning Organization for transportation in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area and is responsible for developing transportation plans and programs that address the complex needs of the rapidly growing area. The planning area for transportation includes the 12 counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, Tarrant, and Wise.
