Position Overview:
The Receptionist is responsible for staffing the District’s front desk and serving as the primary point of contact for visitors and callers. The position greets and assists visitors, answers and directs incoming telephone calls, handles messages and mail, monitors the District’s digital display screens, and performs routine clerical duties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Staff the front reception area during normal office hours.
- Greet and assist visitors in a professional and courteous manner.
- Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls appropriately.
- Take and distribute telephone and voicemail messages.
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming and outgoing mail.
- Perform routine clerical duties, including typing, copying, scanning, and filing.
- Use Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and standard office equipment.
- Monitor the District’s digital display screens to ensure information is current and that screens are on during office hours and off after hours.
- Provide clerical assistance to staff while maintaining front-desk coverage.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Receptionist, customer service, clerical, or related office experience is preferred.
- Related education and experience may be substituted if the combination demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Applicants should have good communication and customer-service skills, basic computer skills, and the ability to interact professionally with employees, public officials, clients, visitors, and the general public.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $13.94 - $15.38 per hour
