Job SummaryPOSITION SUMMARY
Working under the supervision of a registered pharmacist coordinates and performs technical duties to maintain pharmaceutical dispensing functions to all neonate, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including inpatients and outpatients. Provides assistance and coordinates other certified technicians in the dispensing functions, which include at least the following: purchasing, inventory control of all drug classes, sterile product preparation and associated equipment maintenance, and automated dispensing cabinets equipment and inventory maintenance. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
ResponsibilitiesThis individual’s responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Accurately fill and label medication orders with correct strength, dosage form, and quantity in a timely manner. Accurately stock automated dispensing cabinets (ADCs) in a timely manner. Fill/refill emergency crash carts, boxes, and kits timely and accurately. Re-package and label oral medications/extemporaneous preparations and maintain appropriate records.
QualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED EDUCATION: NA
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Pharmacy experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Hospital pharmacy experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State Board of Pharmacy Registration
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board, IV Admixture Certification
